Can you reuse primers
Sep 2, 88 PA. So a friend gave me about rounds of reloaded ammo from an arsenal his grand father left to him. I'm not about to shoot them through my gun but they have new Lapua cases which I want. Has anyone ever popped live primers? Can they be reused? I thought I'd use them in a subsonic load or something. RampedRaptor Sergeant Full Member. Depriming live primers is no big deal. Pull the bullet, dump the powder and deprime as usual.
Don't slam the press handle as your depriming and you won't have any trouble and even if you did slam it I doubt anything would happen. I wouldn't reuse the primers but that's just me. I'm sure they will work fine but for 6 dollars I would just use new. Last edited: Apr 9, Oct 8, 2, 7, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Removing live primers is no big deal. Like Raptor said, take your time and wear safety glasses. Can you resize without removing the primers? Replace them. Oct 10, 0 South Texas. Click to expand GhengisAhn Last known Full Member.

Pistol is different as my groups are in-fact better. Learned that indirectly from a guy named John Giles. He has built a or three in his day. I have done it. By the hundreds. I am curious why you think new brass must be full length resized? Sometimes there is a neck ding, but a neck sizer takes of that.
New brass is simply brass that was going to be loaded as factory new ammunition. The brass you bought was directed off that line onto a different line and into the box that you purchased off the shelf. CountryBoy19 Grandmaster. Rating - Nov 10, 8, 63 Bedford, IN.
Just make sure the anvils are still in the primer when you re-prime. If the anvil fell out in the depriming process it won't go bang when the time comes Apr 25, 18 Plainfield. Let me know when and where you are shooting your reloads, I want to be in the next county. Thanks a lot for all the useful advice. I am relatively new to reloading still, so I was not confident enough to remove the decapping pin at the time. Next time I will do that. You must log in or register to reply here.

There are some primers on gunbroker, depending on what you need the prices range between horrible and. As much as i would hate to have to, I would pay that if I was in a bind for ammo that had to work.
Playing around just to see would be different. Glad you are not in a bind. Lots of folks are and desperation usually doesnt end well. DKR Guide. Joined Nov 3, Messages 1, Likes 9, Bushcraft Friend.
